Biography[]

1983-1999: Backstory[]

Beth was born in 1983 to Sue and Andy Morgan, the third-eldest of their four children. After Sue had an affair with her boss, her marriage to Andy began to have complications. Andy decided to move the family to Chester to open a restaurant, Deva, in an attempt to keep them together.

1999-2000: Arrival and Departure[]

Beth arrived in Hollyoaks in May 1999, following her family. Beth immediately caught the eyes of Finn, Tony Hutchinson and Lewis Richardson. She ultimately decided to begin a relationship with Lewis, but Lewis decided to break up with her as she was only sixteen, leaving her heartbroken. She then went on to initiate a relationship with Rob Hawthorn, who manipulated Beth. After Rob's ex-girlfriend Lucy Benson learned that Rob had told Beth that he was struggling with his parents separation, Lucy informed Andy that she had attended Rob's father's funeral in 1998. Andy forbade Beth from continuing her relationship with Rob, but she ignored him and resumed it regardless.

Lewis begs Beth to tell the police what Rob was really like to help Lucy.

Rob managed to convince Andy that Lucy was lying out of spite, causing both Beth and Andy to refuse to believe what Lucy and her friends were telling them about Rob. However, Beth overheard an argument between Lucy and Rob in which he admitted to ruining her family's lives, and decided to break up with Rob on Christmas Day. Beth was left distraught when Rob was killed in a bus explosion on Millennium Eve, believing that she could have prevented what happened. Lewis managed to convince her that Rob was evil, causing Beth to amend her statement to absolve Lucy of suspicion over supposedly killing Rob.

After Beth's brother Luke reported Mark Gibbs for rape, Beth accompanied Luke, Sue and Sue's new boyfriend William on a holiday to France. After meeting a man named Pierre, Beth decided to remain in the country, living with a host family.

2001-2002: Return and Imprisonment[]

Having long since broken off her engagement to Pierre, Beth returned to the village in November 2001 and embarked on a brief fling with O.B. Whilst attending Jason Cunliffe's party at his mansion, Beth was raped by footballer Scott Anderson. Journalist Alyson Turner supported Beth after she reported Scott, but the judge discovered that Alyson had coached her for Scott's trial and Scott was subsequently found not guilty. Beth then decided to exact her own punishment on Scott - even setting fire to his house.

However, she failed to stop and ended up hitting Scott with her car, leaving Scott injured and unable to continue playing professional football. Beth was turned upon as Scott was unable to play in the World Cup, and she was sentenced to two months imprisonment for dangerous driving. Despite admitting to raping Beth at the trial, Scott was merely prosecuted with perjury and received a suspended sentence.

Andy and Sue decided to move to France after holding their second wedding. Beth was released from prison in early October 2002, in time to attend Andy and Sue's remarriage ceremony. After discovering their plans to move, Beth decided to accompany her parents to France and left a few weeks later.
