Dominic James "Dom" Reilly (né Hutchinson) is the 'cousin' of Tony Hutchinson. Dom was conceived after Tony's mother Victoria cheated on her husband Brian, but she put his name on Dom's birth certificate before giving Dom to her sister Diane. Dom is also the widower of Tina Reilly, who was killed in an explosion in October 2008.
Biography[]
1979-2005: Backstory[]
Dominic Reilly was born Dominic James Hutchinson. He was born as the result of an affair between his mother, Victoria, and another man. Victoria ended up giving Dom to her sister, Diane, to raise. Diane kept this secret from Dom until her death, and Tony found Dom's birth certificate which had both Victoria and Edward's names on it.
Tony and Dom lost contact after Christmas Day 1987. Dom moved to Asia, working on the stock exchange. Dom returned when his mother fell ill, as she had been on her own since the death of Dom's father. Dom's mother died of her illness in 2005.
2005-2006: Arrival[]
Dom arrives in September 2005 after being contacted by Tony's wife Mandy Hutchinson after finding out that Dom could be Tony's brother. Tony did not believe Dom was his brother however after meeting with their mother, Victoria Hutchinson she confirms that Dom and Tony are in fact brothers although Dom is pleased, Tony is still in denial however Dom is soon accepted by Tony and moves in and gets a job at his restaurant, Il Gnosh and later becomes friends with Max Cunningham and O.B., Dom however starts to grow close with Mandy and they seem to get on well especially by May 2006 after the death of Tony and Mandy's daughter and Dom's niece, Grace Hutchinson, tragically dies from a condition known as SIDs. Dom comforted Mandy and seemed to support her more than Tony did this cause Dom and Mandy to develop strong feelings for one another this leads Mandy too depart in June 2006.
2007-2008: Relationship and Marriage with Tina McQueen[]
Dom later meets Tina McQueen and the two instantly get on over their common liking towards classic literature. By January 2007 the two start a relationship with one another and things take a funny turn when both of Tina's sisters assume Dom is having an affair with Kathy Barnes after they overhear Dom in the phone talking to a woman with the same name however it turns out its in fact Tina and Kathy is the name of a character in one of Tina's favourite books. Dom takes his love of Tina to a whole new level when he asks Tina to marry him and is delighted when Tina accepts.
After Mandy returns in summer 2008, Dom is pleased but Tina soon finds out of Dom and Mandy's pass feelings towards one another which led to Mandy originally departing this causes Dom and Tina to temporarily split as Tina tells a devastated Dom that she cannot trust him however Dom manages to talk Tina around to still be with him and also still marry him this works as Tina gets back with a delightful Dom. However unknown to Dom, Tina would later sleep with Russ Owen and Dom is left shocked when Tina agrees to be the surrogate of Dom's brother, Tony and Tina's oldest sister, Jacqui McQueen however Dom is against this and even tries to talk Tina into having an abortion however Tina gives birth to a baby boy whom she would later name Max McQueen but Dom is left gobsmacked when Tina reveals that she had slept with Russ and that he is in fact Max's father this causes Dom to break up with Tina.
But by October 2008, Dom decides to forgo e Tina for sleeping with Russ but is left in horror when he discover Tina whither the rest of her family have been kidnapped and taken to an abandoned church by Niall Rafferty after finding out its Niall by Jack Osborne so Dom along with Jack, Tony and also Jack's son Darren Osborne, manage to find the church the McQueens are being held in but unknown to Dom and the rest of them Niall has attached a bomb and set of the device causing the church to explode Dom rushes in and helps Tina and he forgives her for sleeping with Russ however Tina would later tragically die in Hospital. Dom says an emotional farewell to Tina in November 2008 at her graveside after her funeral.
2009-2010: Moving On and Money Problems[]
After Tina's death in 2009, Dom sets out to move on in his life at first he does this when he become a PCSO a career he was always Interested in. Dom would later meet a woman named Loretta Jones and begins to date Loretta for some time but the relationship does not last long after Dom tells Loretta she must either choose to be with him or leave for her dream job and Dom is then left by Lorretta whom opted for the latter. Later on in the year Dom goes into business with Ravi Roy when the two men strike a partnership to own the American Diner, Relish.
By October 2010 after mostly a quiet year for Dom his told by his older brother, Tony that his struggling for money and the business after a week later Dom is seen attempting to help for cash but gets no luck but as Dom is all out of ideas his approached by Warren Fox and Dom is left stunned as Warren was thought to have been killed in a fire back in May 2009. Dom is offered a £10,000 pounds in cash loan by Warren who is playing Dom as Warren and Mandy are both working together to bring down Tony as revenge for Tony leaving Mandy being stuck abroad. Dom later meets with Warren who sees now desperate Dom is for the cash this leads Warren telling Dom his best off getting a set of matches and setting the business's alight, Warren then refuses to give a desperate Dom the cash and after being told this by Warren a fire is started deliberately by someone at II Gnosh and it causes an explosion an resists in the deaths of both Steph Roach and Malachy Fisher. Its revealed to have been Dom who started the fire who took the advice which was purposely coasted by Warren. Dom attempts to blackmail Brendan Brady after being told by Ste Hay that it was Brendan who started the fire however this back fires on Dom when Brendan tells him that it wouldn't wash with the Police with no evidence.
This comes after Tony finds a photo of Amber Sharpe and accuses Dom of sleeping and getting Amber pregnant. Dom protests his innocence not wanting to sound insane to say it was Warren who had put him up to the fire as Tony believed he was dead. Dom lied telling Tony when confessing to setting the fire that Bart McQueen uploaded more photos of Amber on his laptop and in order to destroy it he set alight the Gnosh however even though Tony buys this he calls the Police even after Dom begs him not too. Not long after being arrested Dom is visited by Tony in prison where he finally tells Tony that Warren was the one who put him up to the fire however Tony thinks Dom is unwell and tells him to get help later however Tony bumps into Warren leaving him stunned Dom was not in fact losing his mind and was telling the truth when confronted by Tony, Warren is smug about both the fire and Dom taking most of the wrap for the arson attack. Dom is then sentenced to prison for five years off screen.
2013: Hollyoaks Later Return[]
Dom returns in October 2013 after being released early from prison. Dom returned to Hollyoaks to pick up Tony along with one of Tony's best friends in Rory Finnigan to take Tony away for his stag do as his due to marry Diane O'Connor as they are about to board the plane they are joined by Tony's estranged son Harry Thompson. While away Dom along with Harry and Finn that Tony is importing drugs for Trevor Royle and attempt to help get him too Morocco hit end up getting chased and splitting up. Later Dom along with Finn meet a gangster named The White Man whom Tony beats at a game of card and again the men receive chase. Dom later says his goodbyes to Tony when the holiday comes to an end and leaves again.
2013-2023: Background Presence[]
In July 2016 after Warren is released from prison for the murder of Louise Summers, Frankie Osborne throws a hate campaign as she knew he was behind Steph's death, insinuating that she knows that Dom is not fully to blame.
When Tony goes missing in 2018, Diane calls Dom to see if he has heard anything however Tony is later tracked down by Ste staying with Julie Matthews.
Dom did not return for his nephew's, Harry's funeral after he was murder by serial killer Breda McQueen in 2019 for reasons unknown.
Dom is mentioned various times by the end of 2019 and 2020 by Tony and his father Edward.
In June 2023, Dom was mentioned by Tony as one of the possibilities of him being Ella Richardson's father.
