Frederick "Freddie" Roscoe is the son of Sandy and the late Alan Roscoe.
Freddie arrived in Hollyoaks in May 2013, meeting with Hollyoaks High School headteacher Patrick Blake after his half-brother Robbie Roscoe was caught stealing money from him. Freddie was soon followed by mother Sandy, brothers Joe and Ziggy and half-brother Jason. Freddie soon became involved in the secret criminal antics of Sandy's new partner Fraser Black, and began a relationship with Sinead O'Connor. In September 2013, Freddie discovered that Darren Osborne was biologically his maternal half-brother.
Freddie married Sinead in January 2014 but the marriage came to an end when Sinead's baby Katy died, and Freddie hadn't believed Sinead's claims that Katy was medically ill. After the murder of Fraser Black, Joe's fiancée Lindsey Butterfield accused Freddie of killing Fraser and framing Joe. Freddie had Joe released by framing deceased detective Sam Lomax, and Lindsey and Freddie began an affair. Joe learned of the affair and broke off his engagement to Lindsey, and Freddie subsequently married Lindsey.
A few months later, Lindsey discovered that Freddie was planning on leaving her for Mercedes McQueen and - revealing herself as The Gloved Hand Killer - attempted to kill him. Freddie survived and ended up in police protection, until leaving in 2016. He discovered that Lindsey was pregnant and she gave birth to their daughter, Lexi, hours before being murdered by Silas Blissett. Freddie rejected Lexi and she was adopted by Joe and his now-partner Mercedes.
Freddie next began dating Ellie Nightingale. After Ellie revealed that she had been raped by Nick Savage, Freddie attempted to get him arrested. When his attempts failed, Freddie confronted Nick and punched him. Nick fell into a spa pool and nearly drowned, and Freddie fled to South Africa, where Sandy was now residing, with Lexi.
Freddie returned in 2024 after being re-employed by Mercedes to help run the garage. Freddie also revealed that he had spent time in prison for the attack on Nick after handing himself into the police while he was away.
Biography[]
2013-2014: Arrival and Criminal Antics[]
Freddie is first seen in May 2013 where it's soon revealed that he's the older brother of troubled teen, Robbie Roscoe. Freddie stops his brother Robbie from stealing from both Maxine Minniver and Patrick Blake. He then makes Robbie apologise before hitting it off with Maxine and ends up sleeping with her, much to the annoyance of Patrick. Freddie then reveals to Robbie that he's in the village because their mother has put him up to the task of finding a property to buy for their family business. Freddie along with Robbie are then joined by his family a few weeks later. They are joined by brothers Joe, Ziggy and Robbie's twin Jason, their mother Sandy and Joe's girlfriend, Lindsey Butterfield and the family soon by a garage and open a mechanic business that they then name Roscoe's Motor Maintenance. Freddie is seen dealing drugs and after being approached by Ste Hay, Freddie reveals to Ste that he's working for someone. It is revealed that he's working for Trevor Royle who later threatens Freddie on giving out his whereabouts and business. Freddie is also seen to be having a number of run ins with Paul Browning and Freddie even blackmails Browning for cash when the garage is in debt however his plan backfires when Browning laughs off his attempts but later Freddie teams up with Browning and Ste in a bid to siege medical supplies to sell but are soon interrupted by Trevor with two heavies. Freddie attempts to fight them off but he is stabbed by one of the henchmen. Afterwards Freddie is approached and threatened by Trevor and when Trevor begins to target his family. Freddie agrees to begin working for Trevor.
At the start of August 2013, Freddie is hit with a horrid task by Trevor to dispose of the body of Richie Trent who was murdered by Trevor the previous day. Freddie does so, much to his horror, and by doing this Freddie is led to meet Richie's ex and Trevor's employee Sinead O'Connor, Freddie begins to look after Sinead and eventually begins a relationship with her although the two continue to live in fear of Trevor. In September 2013. Freddie is put to the task of setting fire to The Loft by Trevor with Sinead and Maxine inside. However they both survive. Things get more difficult when Richie's father, Don Trent, arrives at Sinead's home in aid to look for his missing son. Freddie ends up knocking Don unconscious when he turns aggressive with Sinead but Freddie enlists the help of Lindsay, who is a nurse. After this encounter, Freddie tells Sinead that he has to come clean about Richie's murder by going to the police. However Trevor finds this out and kidnaps Freddie and prepares to kill him. Freddie manages to make an escape and run for it despite his hand being tied, but Trevor still tracks him down. As Freddie is about to be murdered by Trevor, his boss, who is now in a relationship with Freddie's mother, Sandy, Fraser Black arrives and stops Trevor from shooting Freddie dead. The two then drop an unconscious Freddie outside the hospital. Afterwards Freddie agrees not to say a word about Richie's murder although he's unaware who Fraser really is. Weeks later Richie's body is discovered by both John Paul McQueen and Danny Lomax.
By November 2013, Freddie prepares to marry Sinead which he eventually does but ends up finding himself in another murder cover up when he sees Lindsey alone with both Mercedes McQueen and Cindy Cunningham who are trying to make Browning's murder look like a suicide when in fact he was murdered by Mercedes which was witnessed by Lindsey and Cindy. Freddie helps the three woman push the car Browning's body is in off the cliff top. It's seen that Freddie is in fact in love with Lindsey and has been for years. By December 2013, Freddie finally discovers who Fraser really is when he hears Trevor refer to him as 'boss'. This shocks Freddie. However after helping Fraser pay off Ray McCormick who had kidnapped Fraser's daughter, Grace Black by getting Mercedes to pay her £500,000 inheritance to Fraser, Freddie approaches Fraser to opt in his organisation although Fraser warned Freddie it's a ruthless business to be in and was slightly hesitant at first. However Fraser agreed to let Freddie be a part of his firm.
In January 2014, Freddie discovers that Grace has kidnapped Joe and put him in a building that is due for demolition however despite the help of Fraser to track Joe down, they are too late as the builders have demolished the building. Fraser lies to both Freddie and Grace that Joe was killed in the process. Freddie finds himself supporting Lindsey after Joe had 'left her for another woman'. Freddie is also still being blackmailed by Grace and she forces Freddie to kill Mercedes as revenge for Mercedes being behind her sister's, Clare Devine death. Freddie attempts to run Mercedes down however at the very last minute changes his mind and swerves his car but ends up hitting Jim McGinn but he survives despite being hospitalized. In revenge Freddie exposes Grace's and Trevor's romance to Fraser via a photo on Grace's phone after breaking into Trevor's flat.
In March 2014, Freddie is shocked to learn that Joe is still alive, begging to sleep with Lindsey. In April 2014, Freddie clashes with Fraser who blackmails Freddie until Fraser is murdered later on in the month and by July 2014, Freddie is revealed to be the culprit by shooting Fraser point blank as revenge for causing so much misery to his family via a flashback to the night Fraser was murdered. Freddie finds himself in a feud with Grace for the majority of 2014 and begins to sleep with Mercedes and the two end up accidentally shooting Grace. This leads Grace unable to have kids which leads to Trevor wanting to kill Freddie as revenge but was talked out of it by Grace. In October 2014, Freddie is shot by gangster Robert Gupta known as Big Bob during a hospital siege but is taken aback when Lindsey reveals she's pregnant with his child. In November 2014 Grace discovers Freddie was her father's killer and decides to kill him but the roles reversed. Trevor talks Grace down but Freddie is soon set up for Mercedes' 'murder' when Grace strikes a deal with Mercedes in order to frame Freddie for her murder so he can be sent down as revenge for murdering Fraser. In December 2014, Freddie's affair with Lindsey is finally exposed.
2015-2016: Feud Climax, Marriage to Lindsey and 'Death'[]
Freddie starts 2015 under suspicion that he is the reason Mercedes has disappeared back in November 2014. On top of that his family, including Joe, know of his relationship with Lindsey. Freddie finds himself having to support his two youngest brothers Robbie and Jason when their father Rick Spencer is seemingly killed by Joe after Joe punched him in a fit of rage after the affair reveal and caught Rick attacking Jason. However he was in fact the first victim of The Gloved Hand Killer. After much pressure Freddie along with Lindsey decide to flee over the supposed murder of Mercedes. However Lindsey would plant supposed evidence at the McQueens which would lead Phoebe McQueen to become a prime suspect. Mercedes would later return by May 2015 after being tracked down by Trevor and with the help of Freddie's half brother, Darren Osborne, forcefully return Mercedes back to England. In the same month Freddie prepares to marry Lindsay but it's interrupted by Grace who wants to shoot Freddie dead but after being talked down by Trevor and Mercedes, Grace decides to not kill Freddie, however Joe arrives and picks up the gun and actually fires it only for Mercedes to deflect the gun towards the garage. Later, it's revealed that the bullet in fact hit Phoebe and she would die not by the shooting but again by The Glove Hand Killer.
The rest of 2015 seems relatively steady for Freddie until September 2015 when Lindsey's sister, Kim Butterfield makes it look as though Freddie can't be trusted around JJ. The following month, Freddie finds himself having to help Robbie and Jason who are being chased by an armed Trevor. Freddie along with his two brothers eventually find themselves in a car chase with Trevor and stop at an abandoned bridge. The three make a run for it with Trevor just behind them but the three reach a dead end and Freddie encourages his two younger brothers to jump over the bridge. They do so and the three find themselves trapped but eventually are saved and taken to hospital, Freddie is in a room alone with Lindsey and it's revealed that Lindsey is The Glove Hand Killer when she injects Freddie with potassium chloride seemingly killing him and then Lindsey and Kim put Freddie's supposed deceased body in the boot of Trevor's car. But when a police team led by DS Thorpe arrive to arrest Trevor, Freddie's hand moves. It's revealed Freddie is alive and is put into witness protection in order to help bring down Trevor.
Months later in December 2015, Freddie is seen residing in Brighton where he coincidentally meets newly arrived Ellie Nightingale who he gets on with. Freddie is told by D.S. Thorpe that Ziggy has died due to Freddie's shock. After Lindsey attempts to kill Esther Bloom it seems to have confirmed Freddie's suspicions that it was in fact Trevor who wanted to kill him as he was not 100% sure before. Not having any clue that Lindsey was the culprit, Freddie tries numerous times to get into contact with her. Eventually Freddie is released from witness protection and returns home where he finds out from Kim that Lindsey is four months pregnant meaning this time Freddie is indeed the father of the baby unlike her previous pregnancy. Freddie is shocked and devastated to discover Lindsey is the serial killer and orders her to leave and refuses to let her take JJ with her. By May 2016, Freddie learns that Lindsey has returned and is working with fellow serial killer Silas Blissett and that Lindsey is in labour about to have his child and gives birth to a baby girl who is named Lexi Roscoe. Eventually Lindsey is murdered by Silas due to finding out she slept with Freddie whilst with Joe. After this Freddie is not sure whether he's cut out to be a father towards Lexi and allows Joe and Mercedes to adopt her.
2016-2017: Relationship with Ellie Nightingale, Affair with Marnie and Departure[]
After Lindsey is killed Freddie attempts to move on and eventually finds out that Ellie lives in Hollyoaks and eventually begins a relationship with her. However after only a few months into their relationship Freddie embarks on an affair with Ellie's mother Marnie Nightingale. When he begins to sleep with Marnie, Freddie is exposed to be kissing someone when Jade Albright takes a photo of Freddie and Marnie kissing and sends it to Ellie via envelope. However Ellie spills a drink and it smudges Marnie's face so Ellie is still unaware of the fact Freddie has been sleeping with her own mother. Freddie is shocked that Ellie thinks it's Cindy and Marnie even pays Cindy to go along with the lie to hide the affair a little while longer. However, Freddie's affair with Marnie is eventually outed by Ellie's younger brother, Alfie Nightingale and ends things with Freddie. Also in 2016, Freddie meets Warren Fox and begins working for him when he buys the garage and renames it Warren's Wheels. Freddie is also devastated when his brother, Joe dies in October 2016 and begins to be more of a father to Lexi.
After many months after splitting from Ellie, Freddie is eventually forgiven by Ellie and the two reconcile their relationship and even decide to move in with one another but it's put on hold when Marnie lies by telling Ellie she has a brain tumour. Freddie later starts to violently attack Ellie and notices that her behaviour is becoming more aggressive after Freddie pressures Ellie a little. He eventually finds out that Ellie was raped but not knowing who the culprit was (Nick Savage), Freddie does his best to find out and begins to suspect some locals such as Liam Donovan. However Freddie finally connects the dots it was Nick and attempts to attack him however is stopped by Ellie. Freddie does his best to support Ellie throughout her ordeal but after a run in with Nick, Freddie punches him which knocks Nick out. However Nick falls into a jacuzzi and nearly drowns. Freddie is then told he can face up to 12 years in prison and opts to leave the country along with Lexi and Freddie is last seen fleeing in a car by the end of April 2017 to go live in South Africa with the remaining members of his family: Sandy, Robbie and Jason. This marked the end of the Roscoe family tenure since Freddie was the final member to depart Hollyoaks.
2024-: Return[]
Freddie is called by a frantic Mercedes in April 2024 who is scared after being threatened by local gangster, Warren Fox. Freddie appears when Warren attempts to apologise to Mercedes stating he'd take care of Warren for her. Freddie then lands himself in a fight with Warren when the two men cross words. Afterwards Darren bumps into Freddie and later takes him to meet his twins Frankie and JJ. During their reunion Freddie reveals to Darren that he handed himself to the police for nearly killing Nick back in April 2017, spending some time in prison as a result.
Freddie is later seen having a mysterious phone call stating that Warren was just a distraction and that whoever he's on the phone to is his real priority. Freddie later has a run in with Lizzie Chen-Williams when he goes back to his old address, informing Lizzie he once lived in the very house she resides. At first Lizzie doesn't believe Freddie however Freddie shows Lizzie a photo of his family when he lived there and Hunter McQueen vouches for him that he's legit as Mercedes just re-employed him at the garage.
Freddie is invited in the house by Lizzie and the two flirt. Freddie eventually askes if he can go to the toilet and Lizzie accepts but once upstairs, Freddie retrieves the gun from a safe place. However Lizzie nearly catches him leading Freddie to strip impressing Lizzie leading to the two sleeping together. Freddie arrives at the garage ready for a days work with the belongings and as he's putting away the gun he's watched by an unknown person.
Freddie sleeps with Marie Fielding while she's looking for Warren. While sleeping with Marie, Freddie's gun is stolen along with his money. He confronts Marie but Marie's son, Abe Fielding steps to her defence and tells Freddie that he saw a guy hanging around the garage, that guy being Warren's associate, Murphy. Freddie confronts Murphy who threatens Freddie and Freddie's daughter Lexi in return leaving Freddie furious.
After moving into The Love Boat, Freddie meets Kitty Draper whom he had a drink and a chat with leading Freddie and Kitty sleeping together.
