Kate Patrick is the daughter of Jill Patrick, the long-lost daughter of Dave Johnson, the long-lost (until 1999) twin-sister of Joe Johnson, and the adoptive sister of Sol and Gina Patrick.
Biography[]
In 1997, Kate, Sol and Gina moved in with Jill when her boyfriend Jack Osborne invited her to move into The Dog in the Pond. Kate, Sol and Gina refused to get along with Jack's children Ruth and Darren Osborne, even when Jill and Jack married in 1998. Ruth and Kate most notably clashed, with Kate attempting to drown Ruth on one occasion. Their explosive feud resulted in Kate igniting an affair with Kurt Benson, which destroyed their marriage when Ruth caught them together in December 1998. When Kurt learnt that Kate had been using him to get to Ruth, he tried to drown her in the pool. Jack ended up throwing Kate out of home upon discovering the affair.
The Patrick family were shaken up when Jill made a huge revelations: Gina and Sol were not her biological children - she had adopted them after their mother died, which lead to Gina going missing and Sol going off the rails.
Kate tried to track down her father upon discovering that his surname was "Johnson". She initially believed that a man named David Johnson was her father, but soon discovered that his name was Dave Johnson. Through Dave, Kate also discovered that she had a long-lost twin brother named Joe. When Joe arrived in the village, Kate initially rejected him, but soon began warming to him. However, the pair became attracted to each other and began a relationship. Ruth and her friend Carol Groves had suspicions and spread rumours, so Kate retaliated by having entries in Carol's diary printed into the phonebook, and spiking Ruth's drink with laxatives, and hiding the toilet paper, shortly prior to Ruth's housewarming party.
Joe's feelings for Kate grew, however, she began to struggle to cope being so close to him. She decided to leave the village permanently, saying a tearful goodbye to Jill, Gina, Sol and Jack. Joe was disappointed when he learned of Kate's intentions and also left the village after she had gone.
Kate returned to the village to help Sol upon discovering that Jack had thrown Sol out of The Dog in the Pond, and also later returned for Jill's funeral.

- Kate was axed by producer Jo Hallows in 1999, her final scenes airing in November. Actress Natasha Symms reprised the role in 2000 for Jill Osborne's brain tumour storyline.
